Spell Words or Names
by GiSK in

Recently during a call with some of my clients, I was trying to spell a word phonetically. Half way through I was caught abruptly searching for words to spell. Many would have been in the same situation earlier, getting confused when you try to spell words or names over the phone.

For easy reference I have given below the list of phonetic words used by NATO forces.

Self Appraisal!
by GiSK in

I came across this story which shows exactly what is self-appraisal?

A little boy went to a telephone booth which was at the cash counter of a store and dialed a number.
The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:

Boy : Hi, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?
Woman : (at the other end of the phone line) I already have someone to cut my lawn.
Boy : I will cut your lawn for half the price than the person who cuts your lawn now.
Woman : I'm very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.
Boy : (with more perseverance) I'll even sweep the floor and the stairs of your house for free.
Woman : No, thank you.

With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.

Store Owner : Son...! I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job.
Boy : No, thanks!
Store Owner : But you were really pleading for one over phone?!!?
Boy : I was just checking my performance at the job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking to!

This is called "Self-Appraisal

The difference between dream and aim, Dream requires Soundless sleep to see whereas Aim Requires Sleepless Efforts to Achieve...

Attitude is Everything!
by GiSK in

Here is the Small Story for all of us... Please read and think.....

An old man lived alone in a village. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard work. His only son who would have helped him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his situation:

Dear Son,
I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my potato garden this year. I hate misdoing the garden, because your mother always loved planting them. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over.
I know you would dig the plot, for me if you weren't in the prison.
Love,
Dad

Shortly, the old man received this telegram from his son:
For Heaven's sake, Dad, don't dig up the garden !! That's where I buried the GUNS!!

The next morning, a dozen FBI agents and local police officers showed up and dug up the entire garden without finding any guns. Confused, the old man wrote another note to his son telling him what happened and asked him what to do next.

His son's reply was:
Go ahead and plant your potatoes, Dad it's the best I could do for you from here.
So, no matter where you are in the world, if you have decided to do something deep from your heart, you can do it! It is the thought and attitude that matters!!

What to write in blog?
by GiSK in

As you can see i have posted my first blog last night, but the next question that comes to my mind is what to write? This is the same question that stopped me from writing the blogs over the years.
So, the questions are..
  • Should I be writing about some known facts as unknown facts, so that it interests the readers?
  • Should I be adding the contents of forwarded emails to my blogs as it is?
  • Should I be copying content from other blog posts?

The answer is No! If I do any one of these, my blogs would become meaningless. So will try to avoid these consiously in my blogs and start writing about the things that impress me, issues faced and their fixes everyday in my own words...

so, thats it for now...

Happy Blogging!

My first blog at 25!
by GiSK in

Hello World!

It's been over 20 years since the internet was available to common man. Though the concept of 'Blogs' (Weblog) gained its popularity in this millenium, as of now there are 164 million public blogs in existence. To add to this, 200K new blogs created every 24 hours.

But it's really a shame that I took so long to publish my first blog, considering the fact that i signed in blogger.com 4 years ago!  Anyways, starting something new always needed a long internal desire or sudden rush of blood and here I'm writing my first blog at age of 25 in the middle of night..

Local Time: 00:45AM
Date: July 2nd 2011

All Z Well!!
Cheers!
